Leapin' Letters

By Marvin Glass

Leapin’ Letters is a playful mix of word recognition and flying plastic chaos. Each player draws a secret card showing a silly four-letter creature name—like PUNG or GORP—and races to collect those exact letters to win. On your turn, you draw two chunky plastic letters from the container. You keep every letter that matches your card and place them down in front of you. Any letter that doesn't match must be launched—yes, launched—into the air using the game's spring-loaded letter catapult. As it soars, all players can scramble to catch it. If someone grabs it and it's a letter they need, they get to keep it. If not, they must hang onto it until their next turn, when they’ll be required to launch one unneeded letter back into the fray. The game gets wild as players try to visually track flying letters, recall what others are collecting, and time their catches just right. But beware—you must have exactly the four matching letters—no more, no less—to win. Any extras have to be launched away, one per turn, until you've sorted out only what you need. With its mix of hand-eye coordination, light memory, and absurd fun, Leapin’ Letters is a true retro treasure—and a must-play for fans of kinetic vintage games.
